Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate Program

Course Description:  A comprehensive, hands-on orientation to the Six Sigma Green Belt body of knowledge-as enriched by the Instructor, Technology, DMAIC Tools, and participants’ experiences. You are strongly encouraged to bring potential business process improvement opportunities or projects on the first day of class. For candidates without a company project, a sample project will be provided for practice only. Please bring your laptop (with Microsoft Office package loaded) for classwork. Textbook required.

Prerequisites: Basic Microsoft Excel skills and knowledge of statistics are helpful.

Target Audience:  This course is targeted for junior level business professionals with 3-7 years’ experience in any industry.

Prerequisites (courses and/or assessment or tests):  Experience with MS Office 2007 or higher.  Strong math skills are helpful. Command of the English language is required.

Equipment:  You will need to bring their own laptop to each class session. You must provide owned Microsoft Office package for homework outside the course.

Students are required to complete project work outside of class. Project work is estimated to be 8-10 hours/week. Some instructor interaction is expected.

Learning Outcomes:  Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify project charter best approach.
  • Explain each phase of the project.
  • Implement project management skills.
  • Apply the DMAIC model to assigned business improvement project.
  • Design stakeholder communication tools that support current best practices.
  • Demonstrate effective team meeting leadership skills.

Teaching Methodology and Assessment:  Lecture, discussions, power point presentations, real life experiences, project work

Criteria for Successful Completion:  To receive a Georgia Highlands College Continuing Education Certificate and CEUs, you must attend at least 80% of the class sessions; actively participate in class; successfully complete all course assignments, including a successful project presentation; attain a score of 80% or better on the quizzes; and complete a student course evaluation.

Amount of contact time (in hours) needed to effectively teach this course: 27 hours

Number of CEUs to be awarded = 2.7 CEUs

 Meet your Instructor

Instructor: Jea Gackowski, I.E., LCB, CES, CIS, MBB

Jea has been in the import and export field for 30 years, establishing manufacturing sites all over the world as VP of Manufacturing and Engineering for a $250 million dollar apparel company. Along with this experience as an importer and exporter, Jea has her Six Sigma Master Black Belt, U.S. Customs Brokers Licenses and is a certified import and export specialists.

“The Office Group” was established in McDonough, GA, in 2011, as a business incubator so businesses had a place to meet and get training. “Trade Law Training”, was also established in 2018, as the need became clear for sharing this knowledge of how to work through this complex set of rules while still helping companies become more profitable.

Trained employees are the key. It helps the employee see the critical link they are in the supply chain and how to keep those links strong going forward while showing the employee how valuable they are in this shifting market. Six Sigma is a critical part of this training. Green Belt or Black Belt is the key to being a more productive player with the ability to impact your corporate environment.
